Some of the topics from the module
Queer & Trans Affirmative Approach
Participants will learn how intersecting identities such as gender, sexuality, race, and culture influence an individual’s lived experiences. Students will also learn how to use critical and affirming lenses and understand experiences of marginalization within therapeutic spaces and how to provide inclusive, respectful, and identity-affirming care.
Trauma Informed Lens
This module introduces students to the impact of trauma on emotional, psychological, behavioural, and relational functioning, while understanding trauma responses as adaptive survival mechanisms. It explores the influence of childhood, attachment-based, and relational trauma on present experiences and interpersonal patterns. Students also learn trauma-informed, ethical, and compassionate approaches to creating safe and supportive therapeutic spaces.
Understanding Neurodivergence
This module introduces students to neurodiversity through a strengths-based understanding of diverse ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing the world. It develops foundational knowledge of ADHD and Autism, including emotional, social, sensory, and behavioural experiences associated with neurodivergence. Students also learn neurodiversity-affirming, inclusive, and accessible approaches to creating supportive therapeutic spaces.
Ethical Dilemmas
This module focuses on navigating ethical dilemmas, professional boundaries, and value conflicts within therapeutic practice. Students learn to apply ethical principles while balancing client welfare, confidentiality, and professional responsibility.
