Workshop Series in Psychotherapy (35 Hours)

The objective of this monthly workshop program is to build practical psychotherapeutic skills by connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. We aim to equip participants with an understanding of diverse treatment modalities and case analysis techniques from different therapeutic lenses. Through interactive case discussions, roleplays, activities, and demonstrations, attendees will grasp the critical abilities, tools, and methods linked to various counselling approaches.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): This is an empirically validated therapy effective for clients struggling with emotional dysregulation linked to conditions like borderline personality disorder. By targeting acceptance, mindfulness techniques, and concrete skills for managing intense emotions that overwhelm one’s coping abilities, DBT can greatly reduce client distress. This session provides full exposure to DBT principles and hands-on implementation.
  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Our CBT workshop focuses on addressing problematic thought patterns and behaviours that often exacerbate client challenges around anxiety, depression, anger issues, etc. through practical, tailored interventions. Learn how to implement CBT for improved client functioning.
  • Affirmative Counselling for Queer Clients: Provide a space uniquely theirs for queer clients through affirmative counselling approaches that fully embrace diverse identities/expressions and orientations. Our interactive seminar teaches essential knowledge, tools, and mindsets practitioners require along with psychoeducation about gender and sexuality.
  • Play therapy: Participants will delve into the principles and practical applications of play therapy, learning how to create a safe and nurturing environment for clients to express themselves. Through interactive sessions and case studies, participants will gain valuable insights into using creative interventions to address emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges in clients.
  • Interpersonal Therapy: Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) offers counselors a practical framework to improve client mental health by pinpointing and navigating interpersonal problems. Learn techniques like communication analysis and emotion exploration to formulate targeted treatment plans.
