Clinical Disorders (55 hours)

Workshop in Clinical Disorders is a program especially designed for those who are eager to learn especially in a clinical context. This internship gives you the opportunity to not only polish existing diagnostic skills but also use various cases to understand how to work with various disorders.

It also gives an in-depth understanding of different clinical disorders, while being sensitive at the same time. This will push you to look at your clients beyond their symptoms. It will also equip you with an understanding to be able to work with cases involving Mood Disorders, Dissociative Disorders, Eating disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, etc.

  • Case History Taking and Mental State Examination (MSE): The art of gathering patient information and conducting a comprehensive MSE. Hands-on practice and feedback sessions for attendees.
  • Substance Use Disorders: From physiological effects to treatment and recovery. Case studies and discussion on ethical considerations when dealing with substance use disorders.
  • Self harm, suicide- This theme will focus on how one can work with clients who self harm and have suicidal ideations/wishes. The sessions will consist of a foundational theory focusing especially on risk assessment with such clients followed by case discussions.
  • Mood Disorders – Mood disorders refer to a group of mental health conditions characterized by significant changes in a person’s mood, energy, and level of activity. These changes can be long-lasting and can cause significant impairment in a person’s ability to function in their daily life. Major mood disorders that we will cover are Major depressive disorder, Bipolar disorder, Mania. 
  • Neurodivergence: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Learning Disorders: Characteristics and therapeutic interventions. Discussions on early intervention strategies for neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Personality Disorders: Various types of personality disorders encompassing cluster A, B and C. The intricacies involved with the disorder will be explored and its management and interventions.
  • Sexual Dysfunction: Types of sexual dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction and sexual desire disorders. Open dialogue on the intersection of mental health and sexual health, led by experts.
