Children with Learning Disabilities – Accommodations & Modifications tools
This program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of learning disability, covering key aspects of learning disabilities, dyslexia, visual perceptual difficulties, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and nonverbal learning disability. Along with accommodations and modifications for effective strategies for promoting functional well-being in children and adolescents. The internship integrates hands-on components like tools, techniques and interactive sessions, providing participants with the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios for children and adolescents.
Topics Covered
- Learning Disability: A learning disability is a neurological condition that affects an individual’s ability to receive, process, store, and respond to information. This condition can interfere with skills such as reading, writing, mathematical calculations, and language comprehension. Examples of common learning disabilities include dyslexia and dyscalculia.
- Accommodations: This part of the session would focus on equipping the participants with awareness bypassing the hurdles children with learning disability face and providing support to do the same.
- Modifications: Modifications is a form of change that is brought about in the students’ environments to help these children and adolescents. This will give real life tools to students as young mental health professionals in how to help the teachers bring about a change in a variety of ways to impact in a positive sense for the students.
