Short term internship in Psychosocial Counselling (8 hours)
This program is designed to provide practical skills & knowledge & a comprehensive overview of clinical psychology through interactive sessions, role plays, case studies & discussions. Students will gain insight into various clinical disorders, ethical considerations, case history taking and more, enabling them to apply knowledge to real life scenarios. Our focus on experiential learning ensures that all students gain core competencies required to become effective mental health professionals.
Topics Covered
- Counselling skills: Participants will explore how cultural and intersectional factors impact mental health and counselling. The focus will be on understanding diverse cultural backgrounds, acknowledging the complexities of intersecting identities, and applying this knowledge to provide more effective and respectful support.
- Cultural competence & Intersectionality: This segment will provide an understanding of non-suicidal self-injury & suicide in clients, along with a focus on risk assessment through case discussions & role-plays to develop essentials skills as a therapist.
- Trauma informed with Community care: This topic will address the principles of trauma-informed care and its application in community settings. Participants will learn strategies to create supportive environments, recognize the signs of trauma, and implement practices that foster safety, trust, and empowerment for individuals affected by trauma.
- Body Image & Eating Disorders: The workshop will examine issues related to body image and eating disorders, including their psychological, social, and cultural dimensions. Participants will gain insights into effective counselling techniques for addressing these disorders, with a focus on fostering body positivity and supporting recovery.
