Some Topics from the Module
Counselling Skills & Reflective Practice for Therapists
This training is designed to help students translate their virtues into skills like active listening, empathy, rapport-building, and reflective responses essential for counselling practice. The module also aims to equip students with self-awareness & reflective thinking that helps them consistently reflect on their own responses, biases, and emotional reactions during counselling and how to modulate accordingly. Additionally, this module will help students explore how to formulate their own professional morality and how to navigate moral dilemmas in the therapy room.
Learning the Intersectional Lens
Clients come to therapy with complex narratives shaped by their social and cultural realities. This module focuses on holding client stories sensitively, while developing an intersectional and affirmative approach to mental health practice. Students will explore how to adapt Western therapeutic frameworks to the Indian context, understand realities beyond rigid models, and learn to acknowledge intersections of caste, class, gender, sexuality, and other identities with a non-pathological approach.
Choosing Your Therapeutic Approach
This module helps Students explore different therapeutic modalities and understand what aligns with their values, strengths, and client needs. It focuses on developing a personal therapeutic stance while staying flexible and responsive in practice.
Starting Your Private Practice
This module introduces the practical steps involved in setting up a private practice, including basic logistics, documentation, and ethical considerations. Students will learn how to structure & market their services, manage clients, handle admin, finances and navigate boundaries in independent practice. It also focuses on building a sustainable and responsible practice aligned with one’s values.
