Internship & Training in Counselling & Clinical Psychology (Batch 2) – June 2025

With over 9 years of experience in experiential training, Karma is proud to have built an alumni network of more than 4,500 mental health enthusiasts and psychologists across India. As one of the country’s pioneering queer-affirmative mental health organizations, we prioritize inclusivity for all marginalized identities, especially those often excluded in conventional therapeutic spaces. Our team of practitioners brings a kink-affirmative, pleasure-positive, and intersectional lens to both therapy and education, redefining what ethical mental health practice looks like. Our training in Clinical and Counselling Psychology is crafted for psychology students and emerging professionals eager to translate theory into meaningful practice. This intensive hands-on program blends immersive learning with mentorship through classes led by expert therapists, in-depth case discussions, field visits, roleplays, mock sessions, and real-world applications. You’ll learn how to hold space for clients with care, competence, and cultural sensitivity, equipping you to become the kind of practitioner we truly need.

Clinical Disorders

This module invites you to go beyond the DSM. You’ll learn how to approach clinical concerns with empathy and critical thinking, without reducing people to their diagnoses. Topics explored are mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, and many more.

Therapy Skills and Styles

This module helps you build practical, adaptable tools to use in real life practise. You’ll learn how to apply key therapeutic approaches while developing your personal philosophy as a therapist. Learn various therapy modalities, behavioural techniques, advanced counselling microskills, and administrative processes.

Identity-Affirming Approaches

This module focuses on developing competence in working with clients across diverse identities. You’ll learn how to provide inclusive, ethical care that reflects an understanding of intersectionality, culture, power, and lived experience. By engaging in self-reflection, real-world scenarios, and values-based practice, you’ll learn to meet clients where they are.

Psychosocial Challenges & Emotional Concerns

This module supports you in responding to sub-clinical concerns without pathologizing it. You’ll learn how to hold space for clients dealing with complex and deeply personal concerns. Training is grounded in real-life experiential stories of therapists. Topics explored may include self-harm, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, body image issues, relationship stress, and other emotional concerns.

Child and Adolescent-Centered Practice

This module trains you to engage with children and adolescents using ethical, developmentally-appropriate methods. You’ll explore ways to understand their experiences through creativity, play, and and other techniques without relying solely on rigid assessments. The training also includes how to work with caregivers, understand behavioural patterns, and navigate relevant legal and developmental frameworks.
